Deceptive Telemarketing Scheme Uncovered

The Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection has uncovered a deceptive marketing scheme whereby alleged donations were solicited for volunteer fire departments. Heroes United PAC and its telemarketing network of vendors used three local maildrops and engaged in caller ID spoofing to mislead consumers into believing that donations would benefit local volunteer firefighters. Serious Collision in Rockville

October 26, 2019 – RVFD personnel responded to a serious single vehicle auto collision on N. Washington St. in downtown Rockville. A single vehicle with three occupants apparently lost control while turning from Beall Ave. onto N. Washington St. and struck a tree. A703, responding to another incident, came across the collision shortly after it occurred. New Tower Ladder

RVFD recently placed in service a 2019 Seagrave Marauder Aerialscope. The 95 foot aerial platform, costing $1.6 million, was purchased by RVFD using donations and grant funds. The unit was placed in service during a ceremony in September at which the aerial tower was dedicated in memory of RVFD Capt. MoCo Requires CO Detectors

Beginning July 1, 2019, a new law in Montgomery County will require many existing single-unit, two-unit and townhouse dwellings to have Carbon Monoxide Alarms located outside sleeping areas and on every level of a home. Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms are designed to emit an alarm when high levels of CO are detected but before they reach life-threatening levels. RVFD is proud to announce the purchase of a new Seagrave Fire Apparatus – 95′ Aerialscope Tower Ladder. This new unit will serve as Tower 703 running out of RVFD Station 3 located at 380 Hungerford Dr. in Rockville. Fire Damages Day Care Center

January 27, 2019 – RVFD and MCFRS units battled heavy fire and cold weather conditions on Sunday that damaged the Georgetown Hill Early School located at the Woodley Gardens Swim Club on Nelson St. E703B and AT723 were originally dispatched at 8:15pm for an automatic fire alarm.
