Wreck Traps One and Close Interstate 270 - September 12, 2006 - At 1104 hours Medic 319, Rescue Squad 3, Engine 311, and other Montgomery County Fire & Rescue units responded to the personal injury collision with rollover on Northbound Interstate 270 between Interstate 370 and Montgomery Village Avenue. MCFRS Unit 20 arrived onscene with a sedan flipped over the center median, on its roof, with one trapped, and a tractor trailer truck on its side with its load of sand spilled on the road. The Hazmat unit was requested for hydraulic fluid leaking from the truck and gas leaking from the car. Rescue Squad 3 stabilized the overturned sedan with struts and wedges, while Engine 311 applied foam over the wreck, and Gaithersburg Engine 281 diked the truck's hydraulic leak. After the sedan was stabilized, Rescue Squad 3 removed the passengers side wall from the vehicle. Once the extrication was complete, patient care was assumed by Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 8. Chief 3-3 and Car 3-7 were also on the incident.
