Apartment Fire In Company 31's Area - May 6, 2006 - At 0435 hours, Engine 311, Engine 31, Truck 31, Rescue Squad 3, Medic 319, and other Montgomery County Fire & Rescue units responded to the 300 block of Cross Green Street, Company 31's area, for the apartment fire, reported fire from the deck. Company 31 units arrived onscene with heavy fire showing from the roof of a four story apartment building. The Rapid Intervention Dispatch and Task Force assignments were added, bringing Truck 3 and other MCFRS units. Engine 311 pulled an attack line to the fourth floor and began attacking the fire. Truck 31 threw ground ladders, while Rescue Squad 3 provided forcible entry, searched the fourth floor, and assisted Engine 311 in fire attack. Engine 31 and Truck 3 were assigned to the Rapid Intervention Group. As the fire conditions became unsafe due to roof collapse, units were pulled out for a short time to allow for ladderpipe operations from Truck 31 and Gaithersburg Aerial Tower 8. After the bulk of the fire was knocked units were allowed to return to the interior to finish extinguishing the fire and conduct overhaul operations.
