Meal Donation Program

RVFD Meal Donation Program

Every year, RVFD volunteers put in over 100,000 hours of standby time staffing apparatus at RVFD Station 3. That station is the 3rd busiest station in Montgomery County, which makes it difficult for the volunteers to shop for and prepare meals. To help alleviate this issue and to help the restaurants in the Rockville area, RVFD is embarking on a meal donation program where donations can be made to purchase a meal for the on-duty shift.

Volunteer staffing is accomplished with a standby program that requires members to be in the station for 14 hours each night or 10 hours each weekend daytime. The usual staffing complement is 20 personnel who staff an engine, aerial tower, heavy rescue squad, two to three ambulances and a paramedic chase car or paramedic ambulance.

Donations can be made for a shift on a specific night of the week or a specific weekend daytime shift or no preference. Donations will be acknowledged by a thank you letter and on the RVFD Facebook page and Twitter account, although you can opt out of the public acknowledgement.

Please consider supporting this program, which will help both RVFD volunteers and our local restaurants.
