December 4, 2014 – With the cold weather, there is a rise in the number of fire calls to which RVFD responds. The past couple of weeks have been no different.
November 20, 2014 – Units from RVFD Stations 3, 23 and 33 respondedm along with other MCFRS units for a reported house fire on S. Horners Lane in the Maryvale neighborhood. Company 3 arrived to find significant fire conditions in a single family home. Units mounted an aggressive interior attack, however were withdrawn due to the large volume of fire. A second alarm was requested.
A quick knock was performed and units re-entered to continue extinguishing the remaining fire. No one was reported to be injured and all occupants were out of the house upon arrival.
While crews were operating on the scene a man approached an ABC 7 news crew and attested that he set the fire and reported the same to Rockville City Police moments after. RCPD placed the man into custody on the scene.
