Rockville Chamber Honors Volunteers

June 12, 2013 – Three RVFD volunteers were honored at the 24th Annual City of Rockville Chamber of Commerce Public Safety Awards ceremony held at Lakewood Country Club.

Donald Turner was given the Meritorious Service Award for his long-time commitment to RVFD and for his efforts in establishing and running our fundraising by mail campaign. Mr. Turner, a retired teacher, joined the RVFD in 1980 and was an active riding member for many years. When he was no longer able to ride, he sought another way to help RVFD. Over the years since the mail fundraising campaign started, RVFD has received over $1 million in donations from the citizens of the Rockville area.

Deputy Chief William Dunn was honored with a Meritorious Service Award for actions he took to assist a critically ill child during last year’s derecho storm when no other units were available.

Firefighter/Rescuer III Casey King and EMS Provider Master Maile Jacobsen were honored with Meritorious Service Awards for being the top fire and EMS responders, respectively in 2012 . Casey ran 439 calls and Maile ran 221calls.
